Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 heaping tsp of ground coffee beans
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 shot of whiskey or 1/2 shot of cognac
  • 1 squeeze of lemon juice

Steps

  1. Heat a grill to medium heat and place a small grill-safe saucepan on the grate.
  2. Add the brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, coffee, ketchup, water, vinegar, whiskey, and lemon juice.
  3. Stir the sauce over the grill for 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Simmer the sauce uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring every few minutes.
  5. Remove the pan from the grill and cool the sauce for 10 minutes.
