Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
8 oz sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp cinnamon

Steps

Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-inch square baking pan with cooking oil.
Beat the shortening and white sugar until smooth, then beat in the eggs, sour cream, and vanilla.
Stir the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the wet mixture until combined.
Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
Spread half the batter in the pan, sprinkle with half the cinnamon mixture, and cover with the remaining batter.
Top with the remaining cinnamon mixture and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
