  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch salt

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 325 F and grease a 10-inch Bundt pan.
  2. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat the butter, oil, and sugar, add the eggs and vanilla, then mix in the flour mixture and sour cream.
  4. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 60 minutes, until firm and a tester comes out clean.
  5. Simmer the sugar, water, butter, vanilla, and salt in a saucepan for 3 minutes.
  6. Poke the warm cake with a skewer, pour the butter sauce over it, and cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
