Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds (optional)
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 6 tbsp salted butter
  • 2 lb fresh or frozen cherries
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp amaretto (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 375 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix the flour, brown sugar, oats, almonds, and butter until crumbly.
  3. Toss the cherries with maple syrup, cornstarch, amaretto, vanilla, and almond extract.
  4. Spread the cherries in the baking dish and cover them with the crumb mixture.
  5. Bake the crisp for 40 minutes, until the fruit bubbles and the topping turns golden.
  6. Cool the crisp for 10 minutes before cutting.
