Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lb 2 large granny smith apples
  • 1/2 cup cranberries
  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water for egg wash
  • 1/2 tbsp coarse sugar
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp milk

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 400 F and line a baking sheet with baking paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then cook the apples, sugar, and cranberries for 8 minutes.
  3. Place the puff pastry on the baking sheet, cut side strips, and spoon the apple mixture down the center.
  4. Fold the pastry strips over the filling, brush the top with the egg wash, and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  6. Stir the powdered sugar with the milk, then drizzle it over the warm braid.
