Ingredients
- 7/8 cups chopped pecans
- 1 tbsp plus 1 cup butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 cup pecan halves
Steps
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat and toast the chopped pecans for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease two baking sheets with butter.
- Beat the remaining butter and brown sugar in a bowl until smooth, then beat in the egg and vanilla.
- Stir in the self-rising flour and toasted chopped pecans until a soft dough forms.
- Drop the dough onto the baking sheets, press a pecan half onto each cookie, and bake for 12 to 14 minutes.
- Cool the cookies on the sheets for 5 minutes.
