1 sheet puff pastry
1 apple
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 1/2 tbsp water
1 egg

Steps

Heat the oven to 400 F and line a baking sheet with the puff pastry sheet.
Dice the apple and cook it with the sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cornstarch, and water in a small saucepan for 5 minutes.
Cut the pastry into 12 rectangles and place the cooled apple filling on half of them.
Cover the filling with the remaining pastry rectangles, press the edges closed, and cut small vents.
Brush the pies with the beaten egg and arrange them on the baking sheet.
Bake at 400 F for 18 to 20 minutes until puffed and golden.
