Ingredients

  • 7 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
  • unsweetened cocoa powder and/or powdered sugar

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F and butter a 9-by-9-inch pan.
  2. Melt the unsweetened chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat, then stir in the water.
  3. Whisk in both sugars, the eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Stir in the flour, salt, and cinnamon, then spread the batter in the pan.
  5. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes, until the center is set.
  6. Cool the brownies for 20 minutes, then dust them with cocoa powder or powdered sugar.
