Ingredients

  • 1 package (32 oz) frozen hash browns
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 can (10 1/2 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 carton sour cream
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 dash salt and pepper (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F.
  2. Melt the margarine in a small saucepan over low heat.
  3. Stir the melted margarine, soup, sour cream, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl.
  4. Fold in the hash browns, onion, and half of the cheddar cheese.
  5. Spread the mixture in a greased 9-by-13-inch baking dish and top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Bake uncovered for 60 minutes, until hot and lightly browned.
