Ingredients

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup popping corn
100 g / 7 tbsp butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking soda

Steps

Heat the oven to 250 F and grease a large baking sheet with cooking oil.
Heat the oil in a large covered pot, add the popping corn, and shake until popping nearly stops.
Melt the butter in a saucepan, then stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt and boil for 5 minutes.
Remove the caramel from the heat and stir in the vanilla and baking soda.
Pour the caramel over the popcorn, spread it on the baking sheet, and bake for 40 minutes, stirring twice.
Cool the popcorn for 15 minutes before breaking it into pieces.
