Ingredients
- 2 1/2 lb russet or yukon gold potatoes
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 1/2 oz gruyere
Steps
- Heat the oven to 375 F.
- Slice the potatoes thinly and evenly.
- Warm the cream, minced garlic, nutmeg, salt, and pepper in a saucepan over medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Layer the potatoes and seasoned cream in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Top with Gruyere and bake uncovered for 20 minutes, until tender and bubbling.
