Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with cooking oil.
  2. Beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar, then mix in the egg, almond extract, and salt.
  3. Stir in the flour and sliced almonds until a thick dough forms.
  4. Press the dough into the pan and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until firm and lightly golden.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot bars and let them stand for 3 minutes.
  6. Spread the softened chocolate, cool the bars for 5 minutes, and cut them into 16 pieces.
