Ingredients

  • 2 lb well marbled chuck roast steak
  • 1 head broccoli
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 1 tbsp peanut oil
  • black pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup unsalted chicken stock
  • 2 tbsp regular soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp five spice powder
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 1/2 tbsp cold water + 2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps

  1. Cut the beef into one-inch pieces, mince the garlic and ginger, and separate the broccoli into florets.
  2. Set a six-quart Instant Pot to sauté, heat the peanut oil, and brown the beef in batches for six minutes.
  3. Add the stock, soy sauces, oyster sauce, five-spice powder, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and pepper.
  4. Seal the pot and cook on high pressure for 25 minutes, then let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes.
  5. Whisk the cold water and cornstarch together, stir the mixture into the pot, and add the broccoli.
  6. Use the sauté setting and cook for five minutes, stirring, until the broccoli is tender and the sauce thickens.
