Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with cooking oil.
  2. Whisk the melted butter, 1 2/3 cups sugar, two eggs, water, two teaspoons vanilla, and salt.
  3. Stir in the flour, cocoa, and baking powder until the batter is smooth, then spread it in the pan.
  4. Beat the cream cheese, seven tablespoons sugar, two eggs, and 3/4 teaspoon vanilla until smooth, then spread it over the batter.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the center is set and the eggs reach 160 F.
  6. Cool the brownies in the pan before cutting them into squares.
