3/4 tbsp kosher salt
8 oz uncooked long pasta
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup finely shredded parmesan cheese

Steps

Bring 6 cups water and the salt to a boil in a large pot.
Cook the pasta until just tender, following the package time, then reserve 1 cup cooking water and drain.
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add the pepper, and cook for 1 minute.
Add the drained pasta and 1/2 cup pasta water to the skillet, then toss for 2 minutes.
Remove the skillet from the heat, stir in the Parmesan, and add more pasta water until creamy.
