Typical price: Salefork's estimate of an everyday US shelf price for each ingredient. Pick your city to price it from this week's ad.

The amounts listed are small for a full dinner, so this price per serving is likely low. Plan on a side or a bigger portion.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz bottled salsa verde
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 3/4 lb bone-in pork butt
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped cilantro leaves (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat a thin layer of oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the pork with salt, pepper, cumin, coriander, and oregano, then brown it on all sides for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the salsa verde, broth, and quartered onion, then bring the liquid to a simmer.
  4. Cover the pot and braise at 325 F for 3 hours and 45 minutes, turning the pork once, until tender and at least 145 F inside.
  5. Rest the pork for 10 minutes, then remove the bone, shred the meat, and stir in the cilantro.
