Ingredients

  • 1 lb dried linguine
  • kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 lb small clams in their shells
  • 1 cup dry white wine

  • 1 tomato
  • 3/4 tsp red chile flakes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh italian parsley
  • freshly ground black pepper

Steps

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the linguine until just tender, about 9 to 10 minutes, then drain.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large 12-inch skillet over medium heat and cook the garlic, tomato, and chile flakes for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the clams, white wine, and clam juice, cover the skillet, and steam for 6 to 8 minutes, until the clams open.
  4. Discard any clams that stay closed, then stir in the drained linguine and parsley.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the pasta is hot.
