Ingredients

  • 4 cups macaroni
  • 4 cups evaporated milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp vanilla

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Boil the macaroni in salted water until just tender, then drain it.
  3. Whisk the evaporated milk, water, sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  4. Stir the macaroni and raisins into the custard, then pour everything into the baking dish.
  5. Dot the top with the remaining butter and bake for 25 minutes, until the eggs are firm and the center is set.
