Ingredients

  • 3 lb chicken wings
  • oil for deep-fat frying
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup louisiana-style hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 3/4 tsp cornstarch

Steps

  1. Heat oil to 350 F in a deep fryer or large pot.
  2. Fry the chicken wings in batches for 10 to 12 minutes, until they reach 165 F.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in the maple syrup, hot sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix the water and cornstarch in a small bowl, then stir the mixture into the sauce.
  5. Simmer the sauce for 2 minutes, then toss it with the hot wings.
