Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb fresh green beans
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Steps

  1. Cook the bacon in a large covered skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes until crisp.
  2. Transfer the bacon to a plate, crumble it, and leave 1 tablespoon of its drippings in the skillet.
  3. Add the green beans, butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup water.
  4. Cover the skillet and simmer over medium-low heat for 25 minutes, stirring twice.
  5. Stir in the crumbled bacon and cook uncovered for 5 minutes until the beans are tender.
